Kingdom Opportunities: While You Are Singing

They said it was a big accident involving a number of vehicles including a lorry.

That meant that the traffic hold up would take a long time to clear. And we were stuck right in the middle of it. Cars barely moved. At some point it didn’t even make sense keeping the engine on. This should have spelt trouble. We knew how the children could get impatient and anxious. We knew the questions would be raining down on us in terms of how long would it take.

From somewhere, though, came the idea.

What have you got to be grateful for?

That question was slow to picking up interest at first. But when it got to considering the weird and the wonderful, the familiar and the funny that’s when it picked up momentum.

Someone then started singing a song of thanks and we all joined in, even those of us who clearly couldn’t hold a note. And we loved that. So we sang another song. And then another.

By the time we had finished the third song we hadn’t noticed that we were no longer in a traffic jam. We hadn’t noticed the progress we had made while we were singing.
