They woke Him up from His sleep to pester Him about the small matter of possibly getting drowned by the storms.
When He sorted the situation out, He looked at them and said out loud if these fellas were still lacking in faith.
It’s a remarkable statement to make.
Remarkable because I’m not sure how many of us on that ship would be relaxed in the circumstances. I’m not sure how many of us would have had a go at telling the wind to turn the noise down and the waves to chill out because we got a journey to make. I’m not sure how many of us would have remained sanguine in the circumstances because this Jesus would have everything under control.
I’m not sure. Maybe you have that kinda faith and can scoff at how those guys on the boat were clearly not up to the task. And if that’s your kinda faith, I applaud and salute you and maybe one day perhaps I’ll get close to your super level of fiath.
Yet.
Reading this episode is supposed to do something to me reading it centuries after it happened. I should get the clear impression as a follower of Jesus that He expects faith.
Hmmmmmm … He expects faith … In the storm, He expects faith …
