March for the Mission

We are here for a reason.

We are made by God for the purpose of good works. There is plenty of good works to be getting on with in being a blessing to our homes, our workplaces, our neighbourhoods, our communities. No we can’t do everything and there’s no pressure on us to get everything done.

There is however room for good works to be done by us all. Indeed there are good works that we are uniquely gifted to be getting on with. Not just as a solo enterprise, but in concert with others who recognise they’re gifted to do good works.

It’s not that simple and straightforward because of the pressures and constraints that look to keep us down to conforming to piecemeal gestures and token efforts. Life is too busy, we’re told. There are other pressing matters to attend. If we can do a little bit here and there, that should be enough, but there are more important things to be getting on with. That’s what the message appears to be.

This is why people choose to get up and challenge these thoughts and views. They choose to get up and leave that mindset and march towards that call in Christ Jesus to be the workmanship He made us to be. To march towards the lifestyle of doing and being everything pleasing to God. To march towards being the community that takes the love of God seriously as something that goes beyond sentiment and pleasant words to sacrificial service and joyfully immersing ourselves in the lives of each other so that the beauty of Jesus can be seen even in the fractured pots of lives in need of His mercy.

It’s the march for the mission of God on the earth.
