Marching To The Beat: A Dryden Update

Something gives me the impression tht this might be the first Dryden Update of the year.

Yeah, that’s right, the last Dryden Update was way back in November 2019.

Since then developments have included various weather conditions that have been fascinating to observe; a few meetings about a couple of projects slowly bubbling under the surface; coming across some new people who have already had a huge impact on my life.

The family are healthy, for which I am thankful. The way their lives develop is fascinating as is our ongoing changing dynamic of relationships.

One of the most interesting things that’s happened since the turn of the year is a bit of a focus more on how God rules. It reminds me of how some people are applauded for marching to the beat of a different drum – which is to say they don’t conform themselves to what is the norm or what certain others would dictate, they operate on a different rhythm and to different influences.

Talking about what some New Testament writers refer to as ‘the world’ can be problematic for some people these days. Yet the very fact that the term is so troublesome only highlights to me how it hints at a very pervasive reality. With that in mind there is a choice open to us. We can look to conform to the world or we can look to march to the beat of a different drum. A few of us are exploring that in more detail both in study and application and it’s already offering the sort of insights that seriously change things.

I don’t really class March as being part of winter, even if the temperature does not always appreciate that. So the month is a great opportunity to get into something new and blossoming and that’s my hope.

I’ll keep you updated.
