Diligence: With Brothers and Sisters

Being among saints is not primarily a spectator sport.

That’s not always the impression you can come away with if you peruse certain circles. This is why the walk of faith calls for diligence to walk it among the brothers and sisters.

It is a great privilege to truly engage in life following Jesus with brothers and sisters. Life in Christ together with the saints is something so precious that it’s no surprise that it’s so susceptible to confusion, complacency and corruption. Those amazing elements of who Jesus is can be  seen in those lives, lessons, words of wisdom, songs of joys, tales of woe, actvities of peace amidst resistance and efforts of strife. It is one thing to hear people make reference to a text and nod their head sagely. It is an even better thing for the word of God to dwell richly among the saints as they work it out through relationships that learn and develop in humility, mercy and kindness.

This is the work of the Spirit and nothing less. Bringing strangers together who have no reason to be in each other’s company byt are now bound as family because of the love of God and the blood of Jesus. This is the work of the Spirit in and through the saints as they work out the truths of who they are in Christ diligently.

Where that diligence is in place, there is something so sweet and beautiful seeing brothers and sisters strive to see each other as God sees them and respect each other in that. Whilst then making it their point of duty to share and express the wonderful gifts God has shared to them.

These relationships work themselves out to be the most precious expressions of love on earth. A work of the Spirit with the brothers and sisters together. Living, loving and sharing. Diligently.
