Diligence: Seed and Fruit

The seed falls into the ground.

Then, after a while, people are picking fruit from the tree that came from the seed.

And in that fruit that came from the tree are more seeds. Seeds that when they fall into the ground can replicate that whole process again.

How that process happens is something that has fascinated scientists and other observers. Such has been the fascination that efforts have been made to see if the process can be manipulated, tampered and altered. If the process can be controlled, then perhaps the outcome can likewise be controlled. Yet every time efforts have been made to control the process the effects have not been as pure, as healthy and as full of vitality as the process unhindered.

The process can be observed. The process can be admired. The process can be celebrated. The process is ruined whenever its manipulated.

There is something about that seed that falls into the ground. There is something about cultivating that process rather than manipulating. When that process is cultivated that’s where the fruit can be enjoyed.

Diligence is thus required to ensure the seeds are planted. Diligence is required in the cultivating. Diligence is even required for the enjoyment of the fruit. Diligence to share in the celebration of the fruit. Diligence also in the commitment to keep on sowing the seeds in hope for more fruit.
