The Kind of Person to Follow: Meek

You know it when you see it.

Some people have no idea of their capabilities and qualities. Their brilliance has been obscured for so long and they are a shadow of anything that makes a substntial difference to the world.

Some people overstate and abuse whatever capabilities and qualities they have. Drunk on the power beverage, they still thirst to let their prominence be known. They want acclaim and feel entitled to it for whatever they have to give to the world.

Some people are confused. Sometimes they think they’re worth it and other times they feel totally inadequate. Veering from one extreme to the other, they feel a good day is to make through without an identity crisis.

There are a few, however, who recognise what they could do to others, the immense damage. They recognise that they are made for something better, but don’t delude themselves that they can work things out on their own. Indeed recognising that what they have is sourced in someone greater, they willingly submit themselves and operate under the rule of the true Great One. It’s evident in their kindness and grace, it’s clear in how generous and merciful they are, it’s apparent in their commitment to serve and love others and never put themselve as the centre of attention.

They know Jesus and Jesus knows them by the things they say and do. That’s highlighted in particular by their commitment to following Him and encouraging others to do the same.

  1. People like that are precious jewels, and they’re there all around us if we have eyes to see and ears to hear. I think you might be one of them, Mr Dryden – truly!

    1. Dear Chris. Thank you so much for these kind words. They mean a lot to me and I hope others will experience what you know to be true in terms of the meek types being around. As I hope those who have the benefit of your company enjoy the precious jewel that you are.
