So We Must Put Our Trust In God

A lot of life is a matter of trust.

You put your trust in your parents. They are the first sources of authority and the reference point for life. Then you realise they are flawed.

You put your trust in your friends. They are engaging, exciting and animated collaborators in the journey of life. Then you realise they are flawed.

You put your trust in the authoritative institutions from the school to the church to the media to the government. They are the establishment and maintain their position through significant intellectual, social and relational influence. Then you realise they are flawed.

You put your trust in your spouse. You committed to love each other through thick and thin and they mean the world to you. Then you realise they are flawed.

You put your trust in yourself. After all, life has taught you that you can only trust others to operate in a limited way before it expresses its flaws. Then you realise just how much you are flawed.

So its not to say that you cannot trust anyone, it’s just to say you are aware of the challenges of placing your total trust in anyone. Yet to a degree there’s a desire to find a truly trustworthy source and there is one source left available who is the Creator, the one who sustains, the one who redeems, the one who restores, the one who shows mercy and compassion, the one who was betrayed but extended forgiveness, the one known for stedfast faithfulness in every situation.

So we must put our trust in God.
