The Light Will Shine Again

The darkness was overwhelming. My soul was crushed.

The burden was far too heavy for me, I could not carry on. I felt so crowded, it became too much. It felt unrelenting. The pressure got to the point where I didn’t feel like waking up in the morning. The pan got too much for my head at times and I struggled to carry out regular day to day tasks. I didn’t look after myself hygiene wise. I didn’t leave the house that much at all. The world was closing in on me and all around seemed dark.

I didn’t think I would see the sun ever shine on me again.

Then came those friends. They stepped into my darkness and picked me up. They brought me out into the atmosphere where I could experience for myself the reality of hope. They brought me to the place where I could understand what they meant when they said that the light will shine again.

There was no promise of instant healing. There were no gimmicks about quick turnarounds and spectacular emotional experiences. There was the assurance that the light that came into the world and brought me out of darkness before would rescue me from the pit again. There were words and actions. Setbacks and persevering love.

Through it all, I discovered that they were right.

The light did shine again.
