Walk On

You’re allowed to mourn. You’re allowed to let it hurt. You’re allowed to take a break to acknowledge the pain and the loss. The tears are allowed to flow and the questions should be thrown out there as to why.

There is no guarantee that the hurt will go away. There is no promise that you will never be hurt again. The memory may very well remain and the person who did the damage might go and do well for themselves.

The next job may not be swift in coming. The spouse who left might never return. That child who cursed you may not be available to make amends.

Yet

The living hope says to keep on walking. The living hope calls you on. Limp at first as you cry, but the living hope is still calling you.

The living hope says that this pain is not the final word. The living hope says that the rejection is not the way you are to be known. The living hope says those who gave up on you won’t be your legacy. The living hope gives you the reason to walk on.

So walk on.
