In my childhood there were cafes.
Those were usually fairly drab places, but there was something familiar, something that made you feel you could get what you want, sit down and enjoy, have a chat and then move on with the rest of your life.
It feels like the coffee shop is something that particularly gained popularity in England, in this century. I don’t get the fascination with the coffee shop. But there is a fascination. And it’s not about the coffee.
