What Will It Take To Build Faith?

It really is remarkable.

We can see so many awesome things take place around us and still have a negative mind-set on things. You can witness the miracle of childbirth and still grow to hate the child AND the one who gave birth to the child. You can enjoy the delight of a wonderful meal and still magnify an inconvenience to completely spoil your experience and have a bitter attitude to the establishment where you had the meal.

It really is remarkable.

Why that’s particularly pertinent, however, is that this journey of faith is supposed to buck all those trends. The journey of faith – especially developing faith – is to gradually appreciate major hints God sends your way as to reasons to trust Him. Trust Him rather than lean on your own understanding and look to be wise in your own eyes. It’s the leaning on self-understanding and applying self-wisdom that messes everything up.

Yet it takes time to build that degree of faith that acknowledges how it sucks being so negative and self-deluding and instead to continue to trust and walk in that trust.

It takes more than time. It takes a lot of help.

Which got me thinking …
