Praises.
What a goal. That meal was awesome. You did that really well. I was moved by that performance. What an excellent way of putting. You are truly an outstanding individual. That brilliant way that you did that.
Phrases. Comments. Observations.
When you created the heavens and the earth periodically you observed that what you did was good. You established the practice of praise in your analysis of your works. Of the various remarks that you gave in that opening narrative of creation there was only one occasion in which you remarked negatively on something and even then it was the set up to complete that which you had in mind to bring everything into perfection. That is to say for every 6 praises you only gave one criticism,
Forgive me then, Lord, that I have been more likely to offer criticism than praise and even then that criticism was left there with on desire to amend and correct.
Ahhh praises belong to you Almighty God, because you do good in everything you do and you encourage us in your word to dwell on and make much of that which is worthy of praise. The things that merit thanks from me evidently have an element in which I should be acknowledging something praiseworthy in it.
Today you have spared my life to be able to take part in the journey you’ve outlined for my life. You have done this and it’s marvellous. You’ve enabled me to see another day and have a status of health of which I can be rather comfortable and flexible and for this you deserve great praise in your handiwork.
That’s because I know what it is to be captivated in praise and the benefits to be found there. You are awesome in doing that and whatever trifling trivial affairs that titillate me on occasion it’s only a small shadow and precursor of the greater wonders to be found considering you in your nature and your works.
It is truly an honour to know you and love you. And that’s why I praise you.
