We Can Conquer The World: A Prayerful Reflection

In my mind, we can conquer the world.

In love you and I.

You and I.

You. And. I.

Stevie Wonder penned those words to reflect a romantic relationship.

I hear you saying that to your bride, Israel. I hear Jesus saying that to His bride the Church of the Living God. And I know that when you look at Authrine and I, you see one and you promise us that if it’s a case of us and you together we can conquer the world.

The flesh is defeated, the devil is conquered, every opponent and obstruction to the Kingdom of God is removed so that there is the clear reality of the glory of God evident in all our lives and relationships. So I hear you. And I thank you. Thank you for giving that glimpse of the relationship in this beautiful song.

There is conquering going on. The conquering will take place as we stay together. As we stay in harmony with each other. As we nourish the peace in place between us. Let that be the reality for the relationship between my beloved wife and I. We can do it when you are in it. Just as we are only fruitful as we remain faithful to you, so our marriage will only be fruitful and thrive as we stay focused on you.

Thank you for this truth and thank you for this invitation. It’s no chore. It’s no onerous task. This is a delight. This is a joy. You inviting us to do life together with you. You encouraging us to discover real flourishing life with you. Forgive us then when we’ve gone for something far cheaper and of substantially less capacity for satisfaction.

Glory to your name, glorious God that you should extend that invitation to us. So we’re encouraged to look to you to strengthen our marriage as we remain totally devoted to you. Please encourage all the marriages in our circles of influence to follow that path. To find true fulfilment in you. To flourish because they are united with you. We get the chance to do this because of your goodness and your grace.

For His Name’s Sake

Shalom
