You Are Sufficient: A Prayerful Reflection

What if …

What if there’s no music? What if there’s no soothing sounds in my ear helping me to focus on the things pleasing to you? What if there’s no job? No source of income to support the family as well as keep me going? What if there’s no mobile device for communication and other things? What if there’s no wife and children to pour my love into and receive expressions of your amazing grace? What If there’s no football or cultural elements that stimulate my mind? What if there are no friends to communicate with and exchange life? What if it’s just you and me – in the silence and in the absence?

Father. That would still be more than enough.

Communicating with you, expressing myself and getting to hear you. Growing in love and the knowledge of you. Recounting your many great works and reflecting on all that thrills my soul is Jesus. To be fruitful is to be deeply rooted in you and get to the point in my life where all I need is Jesus and Jesus is all I need.

Not disregarding or disrespecting all that comes in life – especially all the good things that come from you. Yet still saying at the end of the day that all that matters is you. You are all I need. You are awesome in all your ways and so considered in the aspects of your will.

My desire is to please you and grow to be more and more like you. I recognise that this is only as possible as I yield myself to you. Draw me closer to you in your love and your ways. Draw me closer to you in reflecting your holiness and righteousness. Draw me closer to you to pursue and promote peace. Draw me closer to you as your Kingdom comes and your will is done on earth as it is in heaven.

Allow the contentment I find in you to influence the deisions I make in life even as basic as what I will eat and drink. As long as I remain grounded in you I can withstand the storms of life. As long as I remain founded in you I can endure the challenges of life. As long as I remain rooted in you the adversarial elements of life will only act as the soil to let me be more fruitful for you.
And, as your servant Keith Green put to music, when I’m doing well help me to never seek the prize as my reward is giving glory to you.

For His Name’s Sake

Shalom
