I don’t think it’s me you’re talking about. It’s someone else.
You have to know the Bible really well. You have to be one of those people who went to those places of learning and stuff. You have to be able to speak well. You have to be one of those people with the titles. You have to really well skilled. You have to be really knowledgeable. You have to be one of those people with tough skin who can take it when you’re criticised and stuff.
I don’t think it’s me you’re talking about.
Sanctify them by[d] the truth; your word is truth. As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world. (John 17:17-18 NIV)
Oh yeah, there’s this, but Jesus wasn’t really talking to me now, He was definitely only talking about those super apostle types back in the day.
Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him. It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God – that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.” (1 Corinthians 1:26-31 NIV)
Yeah, I get that, but … errrrrr … that doesn’t … that doesn’t mean that I’m one of the sent ones does it? Does it?
Father, we who have been changed because of our relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ recognise that we are exactly the people you have sent so others can experience the change. Forgive us for giving a range of excuses for inactivity. Renew the right spirit in us to be about the purpose that we’re sent – to see others changed in the light of knowing you.
