Contaminated. Infested. Diseased. Malignant. Corroding.
These are not the most positive words in the English language and they all refer to the state of something. You ever think the state of relationships could be described in that way?
Who may ascend the mountain of the Lord?
Who may stand in his holy place?
The one who has clean hands and a pure heart,
who does not trust in an idol or swear by a false god. They will receive blessing from the Lord and vindication from God their Savior.
Such is the generation of those who seek him, who seek your face, God of Jacob. (Psalm 24:2-4)
Things get complicated when truth gets muddled and murky. When there are hints and shades to things giving the impression that all is not as they appear, that’s a good sign that the state of relationships will always be on edge.
Perhaps our motives have got mixed under the illusion of getting and maintaining power or influence. Maybe things have got complicated as we looked to put our own stamp on things rather than let the truth have its day. We could have let attention to procedure and protocol cloud the simplicity of the heart to heart relationship.
Whatever the case, we cannot afford any more contaminated prayers, there’s no more time for complex and overwrought procedure that blinds us to the core of the matter. We need the change in the way we do things and keep things true – it’s pure and simple.
We need it right away.
Father, I am so sorry for the subterfuge and hidden agendas. I lay everything before you, I know I need the change. Let it begin with me.
