His Presence: Succeeding in Trying Times

On the surface Sarah’s moaning was justified.

The circumstances had distinctly got worse. The level of challenge and abuse Sarah suffered had risen over the time. The level of support she needed had actually decreased. The pressure increased and she was expected to deliver better results with limited resources and more time taken up with paperwork.

Those were real factors. It couldn’t be ignored or discarded.

Other questions, however, revealed dimensions that Sarah had not taken into consideration. In spite of the circumstances, people recognised that Sarah was still flourishing. In fact such was the evident ability to prosper even in trying circumstances that others would want to link up with Sarah. Management had even been talking about what it would take to keep her on for a little longer.

This was not the first time this had been experienced by Sarah. Wherever her career had taken her, people were impacted by her friendliness, her diligence and her commitment. There was something more than that, though. There was something intangible about her that allowed her to do well in trying circumstances. She hadn’t even wanted to be in that profession, but she still excelled in a way that hinted at something beyond her propelling her.

When these factors were seen for what they were, it was apparent that something else would be needed rather than moaning.
