Blink and you miss it.
That’s something apply to years of my life to be fair. It’s particularly applicable, however, to the month of February. For me this makes it all the more important to make a note of what life is like in the smallest month of the year.
First of all, I’m really happy to have made it through the month of February. It’s been a busy month mainly through the tutor sessions, I’ve had the pleasure to deliver over the month. It’s something that I love a lot getting to engage with students on a one to one basis and customise their learning experience so that it’s as effective for them as possible. A number of them are returning to school to go straight into a set of mock exams over the next few weeks and that highlights two things – the impending real exams really loom and then there’s the nerves and anxiety that can come with that. It’s brilliant to support them through these stages and offer whatever I can to assist them through these stages.
Family life has gone well in February. The two older daughters are exploring new things and taking it seriously, which makes me chuckle and smirk as well as consider how good it is to see them taking further steps into responsibility. The youngest daughter is having fun, which is important, and has also taken a keen interest in how her Dad plays chess. It’s great fun to share the game with her, even if whenever I play with her observing I rarely win. Don’t get me wrong – she doesn’t play me, so she can’t beat me (yet), but it’s teaching her how to get on with the game by seeing her Dad lose. Ouch. My beloved wife is very well, thanks be to God. She’s progressing in her profession and it’s a pleasure to observe her do so. She is an amazing woman as you know (and if you don’t, you have this blog to trawl through especially in June and August months to see how amazing she is), its reassuring to know, though that she’s not just relying on how amazing she has been. She’s not resting on any laurels at all, she’s onto the next task.
I got back into reading books significantly in January, but it’s eased off a little in February. Nothing too bad and I’ve read the occasional decent chapter here and there, but it could definitely do with more application. A good friend of mine preached in the area at some point in February and it was great witnessing him do that. (Click here to get an idea of what a gifted communicator he is.)
Over the month my wife and I talked over certain things that it became apparent we needed to act on and thinking about the month of March got us looking at it as a month of movement. No meaningful movement happens, however, without precious time together considering things prayerfully. There are things we hope for, but we learn all the more to place our hope in Jesus.
By the way when we talk about movement – that’s not necessarily about another relocation to another home, city or whatever. We learnt again recently that growth and movement can take place as you’re sitting still in a settee in the comfort of your own home.
March, however, is for us about movement. Where March is concerned also, I’m hoping to start a new blog Bible Study series – nothing too dense hopefully, there are experts for that. It’s considering some folks that don’t always grab the headlines when we think about the Bible. Look out for that over the month.
I’ll keep you posted how things works out over the month. Thanks once more for popping into the blog and reading the material here. It means a lot that you do that as it would mean a lot if you continued to pray for the Dryden Family.
