Faith in Something Different

Recently I shared about faith in the system.

Some suggested that I sounded somewhat sceptical and mistrusting of those institutions and elements that make up the system in which we live. There were even concerns that I might want to support efforts that goes against the system that, in all honesty, contributed to making me the person I am today. It is the system in which I have a home, a job, the education I received and all the things that came with that. How could I dare speak against it as though I question its validity?

Good question.

What makes matters worse, of course, is that I have allowed my children to go through this same system. They attend the schools, they are indoctrinated by various means as to the reality of the system and their need to accept it. I allowed it when I could have invested my life in doing something different if I was that passionately against the system.

Here’s the thing. It’s not so much fighting against the system. It’s about being captured by an alternative. An alternative based on values of mercy, redemption, forgiveness and righteousness. An alternative that is not obsessed with power and control. An alternative that acknowledges that the best hands for the creation is under the rule of the Creator. An alternative that sees those sentiments that people hold dear and sees it perfectly embodied in the life of a man who is destined to rule in righteousness and showed it through a life offering redemption.

It is definitely worthwhile placing total faith in something. People put their faith in the system and I have no doubt there are plenty of sincere devotion to that system. It just works better for me to place that trust in something of eternal value.
