The Loved

It was one thing to be taught and be able to pass on the words of wisdom. It was another thing to be with Him.

They saw many things about Him. Most remarkable was how He sought to serve others and didn’t look to laud it over others even though His identity would have led them to see that as perfectly reasonable. He had no problem engaging with those that the religious rulers considered to be undesirable and social outcasts. He had no problem having those with Him who had mixed and somewhat questionable backgrounds to say the least.

By being with Him and seeing Him demonstrate as well as declare the Kingdom, they saw Someone who very much was keen to see this reality seep into what others had thought was the only reality on offer. He was exhibiting something that His followers would have etched in their hearts for a long time to come. That experience transformed them and led them to exemplify that for others what it was for that life to be evident through them.

That way of life was not about chasing for positions and titles. It was about knowing the honour and privilege of being in a great family that is marked by the values of humility, service and divine love.

They were the Loved – is that apparent in those that follow Him today?
