Make A Note Of It

We sat down and talked about it.

Twenty years is a long time. A long time where a lot happens. A lot happening some of which is worth remembering. Worth remembering because of what it says about the journey you’ve made to this point. A point where those things can be of use to remind of the things that matter in life. The thing that matter not just to your life, but also to the lives of others. Others who might be in a position to take on those lessons and apply them to their own lives and be all the better for it.

As we talked about it and racked our heads to consider the journey, it was amazing the sort of things that came out of it. It was so amazing that we agreed it would be worth making a note of it. It was a good session to just pause and reflect on the faithfulness and goodness of God in our lives. The clear episodes in which His love and grace was evident in our lives helping us in some very tough and tricky moments in our lives. It was certainly worth keeping a record of it so that it might be helpful for others.

Telling the stories over and over again are a great way to get he message in those stories across. However as life goes on so the number of stories can increase. Holding all of the stories in the memory is a challenge especially if the mind is to retain other things. That can be eased by just making a note of what’s happened. As the note is read, so the long forgotten becomes the immediately remembered and with the flood of remembering also comes the time to see things from a different perspective and appreciated in that light. Things such as the state you were in when you made the note – as reflected in how you record it – to the current time in which you read that note.

The past does not have to constrain you. It can have hints and nudges, however, that can reframe the present in a way that shapes the future in a better way.

All because you made a note of it.
