Get Into Shape

I’m not fat.

OK, I don’t think I’m fat.

That’s an issue because my loved ones have certainly noticed something of a paunch developing around my tummy area. My daughters have been really sympathetic about it … Well, by sympathy, I’m referring to them not letting the issue get them down. Well, by not letting it get them down, they’ve certainly not let it stop them expressing the joy of life in smiles and laughter. Indeed the smiles and laughter has been very prominent when they refer to the issue. Hold on a minute, is that sympathy at all?

My beloved wife has dropped a few very subtle hints about her lack of co-operation with the paunch development. By dropping a few subtle hints, this includes things like stating that she doesn’t like being with ‘fat men’ and then pointing to my gut region.

I’m not fat, though. At least I keep telling myself and my ever increasing paunch that we just enjoy each other’s company that will be needed as the cold sets in and we can do with all the warmth we can get.

What that conversation brings to mind, however, is the need to get in shape. Not just physical shape, but a good life shape. It’s easy to let things get a bit too loose, just like there’s a possibility of getting too uptight about certain things. With all of that, it’s just good from time to time to just stop and consider what it is to get in shape.
