To Obey Is Better Than Sacrifice

Lots of noise, lots of drama, lots of emotion.

People can really feel the passion and there is no questioning the level of intent that comes across in what they say. They really mean it. They really mean well for the Lord.

For the Lord.

The Lord.

Lord.

There is reference to His love and mercy and there is verbal acknowledgement of His holy nature. Then there is the aspect of Him being Lord – one who gives instructions to all those in His service. How is that going?

There is speed and intensity in asking for blessings and attending as many services and hearing as many upbeat messages to prime yourself to get them. There isn’t the same urgency to be about the business of obeying those instructions.

There is a desperation for the feelgood factor and for restoration whenever things go bad. There is an affinity when it comes to hearing those lovely quotes about healing and being loved. There isn’t anything like the depth of devotion to attending to those instructions.

The Lord, however, is not slow in highlighting what happens to those who have desired His goodness, but neglected His instructions.
