What About Year Sixteen?

God is really good to me.

Whatever kind of day I have, however exhilarating or deflating, I can always come home to my wife. That has not always been a pleasant thought for me, but reflecting on the completion of fifteen years of marital union, it’s one of the best thoughts that makes work worthwhile.

There is nothing about our marriage that would give anyone we are the finished item. This means as well as room for improvement, there’s plenty of opportunity if we have the mind to comprehend it, the eyes to see it, the ears to hear it, the feet to walk to it and the arms to embrace it.

I do not know what will happen for sure as we head into year sixteen. That does not stop me, from noting some hopes and desires.

One of the main ones I’m really interested in pursuing is cultivating the sort of lifestyle that has us open all the more to learning from others. It takes focus to make marriage something enjoyable. There are so many reasons why that focus can be lost – sometimes the very elements that should benefit the marriage can turn out to be the things that you can use to drag you away from proper investment in the marriage.

My desire is that this year more than any, Authrine and I will look to God more than ever before and receive the guidance to traverse this path of life. I hope in doing so we will display a marriage of truth, transparency and trust. #

We are not lucky to have each other, we are tremendously blessed. Often, however, to make the most of the blessing requires a significant degree of humility and patience. I hope we can exercise that to the max as we enjoy life together for another day, let alone another year.

This way, I hope I can return if I’m alive in another year and celebrate marriage by that opening phrase of this blog.

God is really good to me.
