Year Three – Resurgence

One of the things about faith that’s very reassuring is that aspect of reaching the end of yourself.

There is so much in life that gives the impression that you can do it. you can achieve it. You can put in the effort and gain so much from it. You have it within you, you just gotta put a little but more in, just do a bit extra. It’s on you and you can do it. You got this.

Whereas the starting point of faith is recognising that you ain’t got this. You have not got this at all. In fact you are lacking so much that you need help to overlook that and keep on pepping yourself up.

It’s not meant to be a downer. It’s actually a good thing. It’s a good thing to know that you ain’t got this, but someone else has and trusting this someone else can be a massive help to you getting a better understanding of things. That improved understanding includes being content that there are some things you will never know and just enjoying making the most of what you do know.

We have these constructs in life. We make them up to help us navigate the world. A lot of these constructs are flawed and cracked. As we feature at the centre of these constructs, when they begin to fall, so we reach the end of ourselves. As we reach that, there is an invitation to consider a construct not of our own making.

When we take up that invitation, the kind of impact that can have to life can be described among other things as one word:

Resurgent.

There are fewer more exhilarating experiences in life than to go from the end of yourself, to experiencing that incoming power of life from the source that makes the difference.

It’s just a shame that it is not an experience encouraged that often. It’s still available though, you just need a little faith.
