Dryden May Update

We are into May now. No doubt about it.

Sure, the first week is still here, but if we needed any more doubt that April is over it’s the mere fact that here in Britain it’s the May Day Bank Holiday weekend that goes from here to Monday. Three days off work. Apparently it’s a glorious thing.

In any case, April was an intriguing month. I did not set out to blog my way through the teaching on the mount that Jesus gives in Matthew 5-7. Where it came from primarily was this little blog where I was asking more Jesus questions. If I knew what it would lead to in the month, I would have made more of a big deal about it. Indeed it wasn’t just about what I was blogging about either.

There were certain conversations that took place over the month that challenged me seriously about my commitment to Christ. Those were necessary conversations and there are currently follow up actions to that, which I am undergoing.

In other lesser important news I watched Avengers: Infinity Wars. I might have watched it twice. I might be watching a third time. I could be implying I enjoyed it. I won’t give that away.

The family are well, although we’re now entering heavy exam zones for some. Not my offspring yet, but they are involved in school activities and watching them engage with that and other challenges makes parenting fascinating. (He says typing this at night safe in the knowledge that the children are all asleep.)

You ever get the sense that there are good things that God gives you, but they shouldn’t be a substitute for a relationship with Him? I get that feeling from time to time. At those times I’m always reminded of a question worthwhile exploring.

And that question is ….

Something I hope to be exploring on the blog for a while.
