You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people’s feet. (Matthew 5:13)
Who are you?
Seriously, do you know who you are?
Evidently for Jesus it was important that His disciples knew who they are. It was so important for Jesus that He even suggests that if you don’t be who you are then you’re … almost good for nothing. That’s a strong statement for Jesus to say.
I wonder what He meant, though, by salt losing its taste? I wonder what that’s all about to lose the essence of who you are to the point that it cannot be restored? What does that mean for a follower of Jesus?
What does it mean for a follower of Jesus to be who you are?
Would people know a Christian who is really being who they are in Christ? It’s not just about what they do – it’s about their being. Jesus is certainly not saying that His disciples should try to be or strive to be anything – He is telling them who they are.
But do you know who you are?
Oh, you were expecting me to answer the questions now?
Oh.
