More Jesus Questions

I was just having a look at some of the things I wrote five years ago.

There was this piece I put together about some Jesus questions. It was interesting reading some of the questions that I had at the time and what the five years have done in helping me work through some of those questions.

There is now the thought about some other questions that have popped up since then:

  1. Jesus had a way with children. How do you guide children in the way of Christ at the stage when they could consciously decide for themselves but are still undecided?
  2. Jesus patiently endures with us. How can we remain patient and endure with those who love God and can’t break a sinful habit?
  3. Jesus challenged the religious rulers of his day not to make parties for their friends but for those who couldn’t repay them back. Why does that challenge not appear to be as prominent among us today?
  4. Jesus spent time with his followers and enabled them to do what He was doing before eventually commissioning them and releasing them. How are relationships that follow Him doing that today?
  5. Jesus prayed for unity. Is that something that we are as concerned about today and what kind of unity do we want in comparison to what he prayed for?
  6. Jesus taught his disciples to follow key elements to be able to enter the Kingdom of Heaven. Are those teachings fundamental to our understanding of what it is to be seekers and expressions of the Kingdom today?
  7. Jesus left a way of being community together as expressed by that group of 120 that stayed in the upper room waiting for the promised Holy Spirit before operating in the power to share the good news. What is the link between community, the Spirit and sharing the word today?

Thinking back on the questions I asked five years ago, I am in a very different place in a lot of ways where the practical expression of life in Christ is concerned. I can certainly see how paying attention to these questions brought me back to reflecting on what my relationship with Jesus was all about. Taking those questions seriously led to me making some changes.

Where I’m at in my walk with Jesus, I can sense some differences up ahead, but I never knew back then how it would affect things. In the same way I don’t really know where following these questions will take me. Yet I reckon as long as it’s Jesus leading me exploring the answers then it can only lead to a better place of knowing Him and growing in Him.

Feel free to consider these questions for yourself or be encouraged to know that having questions for Jesus is no bad thing, as long as you’re prepared for the answers.
