A Quarter Past – A Dryden Update

What time is it? Ah it’s a quarter past the year.

April being here means we have completed the first quarter of the calendar year. Great time to look at what’s gone and what is to come as well as just stopping and being grateful for being here.

One of the highlights of the first quarter of 2018 was walking with some people in agreement on a daily basis for a month. It sounds simple, but very effective. Just one topic, just one issue to bear in mind with the person and prayerfully walk with the person on that point every day. It did wonders for the strength of the relationships. It did wonders for the capacity to focus on the Word and prayer. It’s something I really loved to do.

In the first month of the year I went through my first illness for a long time. I’ve had the occasional bout of breathing difficulties that have been troublesome for a day or two, but this was the first illness that really knocked me out of action for the best part of ten days. Never had that before and wouldn’t encourage anyone to go through that experience. As I write now, it’s well in the past and physically I feel recovered. Tough times, though and I’m grateful for them in what it elicited in others.

Throughout this first quarter, I’ve enjoyed blogging here more often than not. Some things I’ve written felt particularly inspired – which is not something I say in a pretentious or conceited manner. There was something about the content that when I read back even makes me wonder if I wrote it!

Some I would commend to check again include:

In terms of what there is to come? Well who can tell the future? What I can say, however, is that there’s been a sense of renewed desire to write in me over the last few weeks. At the same time, I’ve also been getting some indications that there needs to be changes. Maybe changes in the frequency of the blogs. Perhaps changes in the length of them. Possibly changes in the things I write about.

Change is in the air. There are some things going on in the background that will bring the nature of the changes to fruition sooner rather than later.

Until that happens, though, I sit here after a quarter past 2018 grateful to God for health and inspiration. I’m grateful for the privilege of being able to blog and have it read regularly by subscribers as well as visitors from around the world. I didn’t think this could be when I started out blogging, but here it is.

I am grateful to God for all of this and trust that I will be a good steward of the resource of the words that he’s given me to share the blessing.

For His Name’s Sake

Shalom

C. L. J. Dryden
