There’s a work colleague that I get on with.
I’ll just wait for you to let that sink it.
True story, though. I get on with this colleague at work, we have a good rapport. One of the reasons for that is because he is very good at his job and I acknowledge that. Another reason is that he is very funny and I acknowledge that as well.
Another reason why I get on with him, though, is that he’s a really fascinating and engaging bloke. I enjoy conversing with him and his views on aspects of life has me riveted. As a result it encourages me to ask questions that evokes more intriguing snippets from him. Recently we were conversing about things and I got to ask him that great question: If you could invite any three people to dinner – whether living or from the past – who would those people be?
I love that question. I love what it says about what people find interesting in their dinner conversations. I love what it opens up about people, their hearts, their minds, their loves, their fascinations. Love it.
So in the light of that kind of thing that I love, for the next entry or two on this ol’ blog, I’ll be sharing the four guests I would invite to dinner.
Meanwhile, ask some folks you love the same question and see what reaction you get. Let it stimulate a conversation about what we love about the power of conversation in good settings among good people.
