Some don’t think their life has much to offer, but it’s so much more valuable that we sometimes appreciate.
Recently my wife and I had the great privilege of sitting to have a meal with another couple we value highly. There was something the husband said that made my eyes fill with tears. He shared something about his life that pierced me to the core and it was all I could do to lay a hand on his shoulder in empathy. He wasn’t crying with tears, but his words were doing the crying for him.
When I recollect that experience and what causes people to go through things like that, it just makes me wonder how powerful mercy is. It makes me amazed at the grace of God that can restore the lives of people who have been so horribly treated in life.
Some people don’t think they have much to offer. Yet when we open up their lives to what they have been through, it is so rich with incidents and episodes that can be of huge healing benefit to those who hear. It is just so important to create those environments in which people can share that.
This way, hopefully more people will realise that they really have something significant to contribute to life.
