One Can Make A Change

The premise of the 80’s hit TV show Knight Rider was one man can make a difference.

Of course it really should have been one man with a talking hi-tec car can make a difference. In fact it should have been one man with a talking hi-tec car with a back up support of a billion dollar foundation can make a difference.

In any case, the premise was that one man can make a difference.

I liked Knight Rider a lot. I wanted the watch that Michael used to talk to KITT through. Good times.

This is where, as a follower of Jesus, I should make the natural connection of how Jesus was one man and He made all the difference in the world. Then that should wrap up this blog and you can return to your regularly scheduled activities.

But ….

I had the pleasure of being in a prayer gathering recently. What I love about praying with others is that if you give people the space and time to commune with their God then they can hear from Him as well as speak to Him. When that happens the insights we can get about God can be so refreshing. So in this prayer gathering a powerful word of God came through this sound brother in Christ. I love sound brothers in Christ, they make me feel better about what they’re about to say.

He mentioned things about how God can put us in refreshing situations to give us the push we need to crack on with the things He calls us to do. I noted that carefully for future reflection. Something else that came down the chute, however, was about us not having to be too carried with numbers, because there are episodes in scripture where encounters with one person can make the difference.

Jesus’ encounter with the woman at the well in John 4 transformed the fortunes of an entire village. One person made the difference. Jesus’ encounter with the man who was tormented with a legion of demons, lead to a region of ten small cities called Decapolis, marvelling at this story of the delivering power of God.

One person can make a massive change in the lives of others.

Think about that it. One person. One encounter with Jesus. That can effect those in your neigbourhood.

That’s a significantly better difference than having a hi-tec car and a cool watch.

For His Name’s Sake

Shalom
