When you’ve been oppressed by the superpower of the day. When they have taken umbrage at your efforts for liberation and sent their mighty forces to bring you back in. When all of this is upon you, it’s understandable that you can feel a little anxious.
When you’ve been oppressed by financial and mental pressures for so long. When setback after setback gives you the impression there’s nothing you can do but accept defeat. When the governing forces of the day take umbrage at your efforts for liberation and send their mighty forces to bring you back in. When all of this is upon you, it’s understandable that you would feel a little anxious.
One of the wonders of God is how He reveals Himself in life’s circumstances. There’s never a guarantee for a trouble-free life and there’s no guarantee for a free ride through the hardships we may expect. On the road to liberation, though, it’s good to know that we are being lead by one who is gloriously triumphant.

In Exodus 15, the people of Israel had witnessed one of the greatest marvels in their history. Their response to this epic deliverance was a song of praise and thanksgiving and they kick off their song by pointing out just what a great job He has done.
This would not be the last time that seemingly overwhelming odds would be brought to nothing by the Lord who has a great track record of being gloriously triumphant. Indeed it is a neat precursor to arguably the highlight in the history of humanity of a glorious triumph. For not only was there a glorious triumph on the cross at Calvary where sins were taken and borne by the great Redeemer – but three days after death and seeming defeat, Jesus rose gloriously triumphant over death itself. That’s sin, death and the grave not just narrowly defeated but triumphed gloriously by our great Lord and Saviour. Those are the greatest enemies we face in life and we have a Saviour who has beaten them soundly.
This is the kind of truth that had an entire people singing songs of glory, songs of triumph and songs of deliverance that have been an intrinsic part of their history. This is the kind of truth that should have an entire collection of people brought from different cultures and walks of life singing new songs of praise to our God. Singing new songs and witnessing this gloriously triumphant Redeemer working on our behalf as we entrust to Him all of our life’s issues – relieving the understandable anxieties with a glimpse of the one who leads us into glorious triumph.
It’s worth your while reflecting on these things.
