You’ve Seen Him In Me – Let Them See Him In You

Newsflash – I love scripture.

The recent reason for loving the Word is because of the relationship between Paul and Timothy. It’s one thing for us to see the example of Jesus in front of the disciples. We can see that and say it’s alright for them, they had the perfect example to follow. Yet In Paul and Timothy we have two real, flawed individuals who are yet in the business of living lives devoted to spreading the gospel and encouraging saints to follow Jesus.

Not only are they real and flawed, but in that Paul still has the boldness to say to his son in the faith: Come on man, you’ve seen Him in me, you’ve seen how I live as well as what I say. You’ve got an insight that not everyone gets. You know me for real and you’ve seen Jesus alive in me. Indeed even in my sufferings I know who’s called me, I know who’s with me, I am fully persuaded. So you can do this to – and not only do this for me or for yourself or for Him, do it so that others can see Him in you and keep it going.

That is so encouraging and so challenging for me in the faith. I have a great mentor who gave me insight into his life for a season and even now I love to connect with him and I am first and foremost attracted to him because of Christ who beams clearly from his passion and life pursuits. That example challenges me to get on with developing this great love relationship with the Messiah by His Spirit for the glory of the Father. And living a life transparent to other followers that genuinely want to get in on it as well.

There are more than enough stories in my lifebook that I can tell showing His love and faithfulness time after time. It’s just to have the relationships and opportunities to show others the Christ that lives in me as an encouragement for them to let the Christ in them shine for the benefit of those around them.

I’ve observed it and am observing it. I’ve absorbed it and am absorbing it. Now to persist with the habituating of it and then getting others in on the act! Where would I have got that from?
