At the all you can eat buffet, my colleagues made a smart decision. They would just get a refill glass of drink. As it suggests, the one-off payment handed over power to the individual to get a soft drink and return for more whenever they liked.
What made it a smart move was that they measured their portions and amounts to drink so that they more than maximised the cost with the amount they ate and drank. Smart. Very smart indeed.
I endeavour to write and otherwise produce content for the benefit of and consumption by others. It gets taxing sometimes to be this way inclined. There’s enough options here are great to just be a consumer, but I recognise that following Jesus and being a servant goes against that trend.
What I am grateful for, though, is that the same power that gave me the inclination to prefer to produce than just be a consumer is available to refill. Indeed I am encouraged to go on being filled. As I do so there comes the opportunity to truly be refreshed with the refill.
So when I hear and observe brilliant teachers and see how they do what they do with such a high standard and excellence the refill does me the world of good by helping me to focus on things above. When I hear speakers compel folks to pay attention, it informs and shapes my own approach, not to be a copycat, but appreciate varying styles of accomplishing the desired outcome.
Exerting energy gives a lot from myself. I am so grateful for the smarts to invest in the refillable option where that power is on tap at all times to give new energy once more.
For His Name’s Sake
Shalom
