Asking God to do something that has never happened before is audacious. Asking God to do something He has done before should be rather more straightforward.
This Psalm, however, still goes to show that approaching God to do something that He has done before is not something to take lightly. Here is a pleasant for God to bring back good days to His people. A plea for restoration. A plea based not on the worthiness of the people, but the character and power of God.
Great things will indeed happen when God brings about restoration, but it won’t be solely for the benefit of the people. This will be for His own glory as others see this.
For some of us it might be worth reading this Psalm carefully and looking at how such a plea could be apt for our individual and collective situations.
For His Name’s Sake
