The Psalmist knows about tough times. Far from home, facing great opposition from all sides. It is easier to want to curl up and die.
In this situation the Psalmist expresses his desire for God. Such is that desire that he can meditate on what it is to be in the presence of the Lord. The ability to do that is the platform for praise and reassurance.
Placing thoughts like that in tough circumstances makes the world of difference. Those are thoughts worth dwelling on in the last moments of being awake. Not dwelling on the troubles but on God who is greater than the problems and so in his own way can will sort out those who oppose. Those refreshing thoughts, are great to consider as you end your time awake.
