Psalm 9 – To the God of Justice

Some reflections on Psalm 9.

He has done justice – praise God for that. He is hearing our cry for justice – seek God for that He will bring about justice – thank God for that.

The Psalmist praises God for good reason and then uses that as a platform to petition God to keep on doing what made the people praise in the first place.

He is such a great God for those who are oppressed and afflicted. And He is such a mighty God to those who do the oppressing and afflicting. This is worth bearing that in mind when we witness injustice.

It’s not an excuse to be inactive, but it is a reminder that whatever Captain America, Iron Man, Thor and Hulk might think the avenging is best left to God Almighty.

This acts as a stern warning to governments and corporations that abuse people for capital gains. God isn’t going to let it just slip by. It’s a stern warning to bullies of every kind – physical, verbal or psychological. God ain’t just going to let it go without His final say on the matter.

It’s great to know that God has you shielded and protected. God has you sorted and He will go sort out your foes for you. He is the original Equalizer. No wonder He is worthy of praise. Especially to those who seek Him. Love that aspect.

We ain’t looking for The A-Team, we ain’t looking for Clint Eastwood, we ain’t looking for Loans 4U, we ain’t looking for Dr Fixit, we be looking for the everlasting, ever loving, ever righteous, ever just, ever merciful, ever giving, ever living God of the Universe!

For His Name’s Sake

Shalom
