Cutbacks to Go Forward

When the financial crisis hit, talk of austerity and cutbacks were not embraced with joy. Especially when certain people suffered in particular where others did not appear to suffer that much at all. Almost a decade since it hit and there is little indication that what was done was fair, equitable and just. Understandably that gives the whole image of cutbacks an even worse reputation than it had initially.

Yet there are times when the only way to progress is to make those cutbacks. Some of those relationships, some of those outlets, some of those habits, just cutting back on those can do immense good to actual growth. Even if we’re fruitful, God will prune us to make us all the more fruitful. That’s when cutbacks can be a good thing.

It’s a good thing when it’s fair. It’s a good thing when it leads to fruit. Fruit that will last. Fruit that will benefit others, especially those who tend to suffer.

For His Name’s Sake

Shalom
