A greater desire for intimacy is a great motor in the relationships that matter.
The great challenge in relationship is to renew and refresh the desire for intimacy. Familiarity and routine can sometimes wear down the desire. Complacency sets in and before long the love grows cold and other interests take precedence.
One way to refresh that intimacy is with the appreciation that people change, people grow and people develop. Even as you grow, change and develop. This then should encourage a willingness to not take the other for granted. It should encourage a willingness to get to know the other more even as the other grows to know you more as you open yourself to them.
That’s a challenge because we like distractions and intimacy can make us vulnerable when we don’t want to be. The more we overcome that in the commitment to true intimacy, the richer and better the relationship.
