16MTP 24 – Three Key Ingredients

By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established, through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures. (Proverbs 24:3, 4 NIV)

It has been my great honour and privilege to be involved in  a number of projects and initiatives that have left a positive impact on people’s lives. When I consider the secret to the success of those initiatives and projects three key ingredients are dominant – knowledge, understanding and wisdom.

The compassion to reach out to others came from godly wisdom that esteemed the value of human life as much as the Creator does. The due diligence to understand the context and variables in the work we were to do was a great and humbling factor in those times. The task of understanding called for great patience and an ongoing commitment to listen carefully and work out what there was to be taken and what there was to be left.

The process of understanding also built the knowledge base on which we could get things done. We never stood still, there was no sense of resting on laurels, there was a sense that there was more to know, there was more to understand and the more that took place, the better the provision we offered.

So many good people were showing me the reality of this proverb that the house is well built when its foundations are wisdom. Defying the odds, persisting through setbacks, proceeding to bless and enrich the lives of others, these examples show that lives, houses, projects, relationships and initiatives can flourish and prosper when we take the time to ground it all in those three key ingredients.

For His Name’s Sake
