Exodus Extracts 38 – It’s Recorded

These are the records of the tabernacle, the tabernacle of the testimony, as they were recorded at the commandment of Moses, the responsibility of the Levites under the direction of Ithamar the son of Aaron the priest. (Exodus 38:21 ESV)

One of the compelling reasons behind the book of Exodus is that it is not just a story. This is a record.  What we read around the outline of the tabernacle and the actual building of it is the detailed account that was recorded so that a people and the world at large will know where they’re coming from.

The works of these characters in building the place God designed to dwell is important enough for God to have it documented and retained for the benefit of the generations to come. As that is how important it is to God, consider how important His tabernacle is today. Not the physical man-made constructs that are built, but the community of people He builds among whom He desires to dwell.
