So Moses gave command, and word was proclaimed throughout the camp, “Let no man or woman do anything more for the contribution for the sanctuary.” So the people were restrained from bringing, for the material they had was sufficient to do all the work, and more. (Exodus 36:6, 7)
Can you imagine a scenario like that? Stop giving? What? In this day and age, there’s always a reason to keep giving in certain settings. It’s like an insatiable machine that always requires giving to it even to the exhaustion of those who give.
Not in this case though. The reason for the order to stop giving, says much, however, about purpose. God’s instructions for His tabernacle had certain specifications for which the offerings were needed – nothing more was required.
I wonder if we would be aware of what specifications were required for the projects that God sets us up on. I wonder if we would not be taken up with the money and resources and more concerned with what the purpose is about and utilising everything to that end.
