When Your Dad Writes

The bond between a father and his children isn’t as lauded and tenderly considered as the one between the mother and her offspring

This is unfortunate. Recently I sat in on a conversation a few folks were having about Paul in the Bible. They were talking of the paternal care he displayed for the churches, especially ones he had helped to establish. That bond between them gave Paul the opening to challenge them to trust and live out the truth of new life in Christ to a degree that a visiting preacher would have lacked.

It was fascinating to listen to the interaction and gain an awareness of how much people either respect their own spiritual parents in the faith or desired to have such a relationship.
