Settlers and Pioneers

There is a time and place.

Having wandered around for so long and as people get tired and worn, it’s good to know there is a place where settling can take place. Roots can be established, norms can become entrenched, a stable inoffensive and unspectacular routine can be developed. Over time the settling mentality slowly squeezes initiative and the desire to expand. Slowly and surely the  focuses more on retaining and sustaining a pattern of being. Even as that pattern becomes stifles growth, supporters appeal to the status quo as the safe place.

That’s why it’s good from time to time to get those who take umbrage at such complicity with a form that no longer reassures. It’s good to know there are already folks who get a taste of the Kingdom of God. As they are captured by the compulsion to innovate, so they are driven as pioneers to grow out and see further where the new can be demonstrated.

Nothing wrong with settlers as such. Just that there is a time and place.
