Wisdom in Nature: A Brief Reflection

I would not call myself a nature enthusiast.

Walking is something I enjoy, but more often than not my line about the outdoors is that I love the great outdoors from inside. As with artists, chefs and those good at DIY I admire those who are animal and nature experts exactly because they have an expertise in something I do not.

Yet as a walker Ioften enjoy appreciating aspects of what goes on outside. Lately an angel sent me an audio reading of Proverbs 8. I had the opportunity to listen to it whilst walking through a park. It’s one thing to read the word of God and it’s another dimension to hear it. To actually hear it whilst walking through the park and considering the role wisdom plays in all creation and how we can benefit from her was an uplifting experience. It reminded me that that which we’re reading is a living and dynamic reality that touches and kisses all of reality.

it’s all too easy to separate text from reality. It’s disturbing how we do that. It’s as though He is no longer the same God when we shut the book. When we walk through life though and see incredible beauty and complexity it is clear why wisdom would playsuch an integral role.

If wisdom has done such a great job on creation, then it makes sense to apply wisdom to every day life. Hearing that and marrying it to what I’ll choose to wear or to watch and how I will engage in a conversation makes me really believe that Godis a genuis toput these together.

That won’t necessarily turn me into a nature lover, but it certainly makes me a greater lover of the God who created nature.

For His Name’s Sake

Shalom
