I am comfortable not understanding everything. Even about God.
Seriously. I am comfortable. It’s enough for me to make the most of the little that I know before getting greedy about looking for knowledge and understanding on everything.
What I am reminded of fairly often is that even what I know should not be taken for granted. Knowing in a lot of cases is making a practice of it. Not being smug about it. Indeed it’s a bad sign when I get smug about something. It’s a bad sign because it suggests a degree of complacency and a slight superiority complex. It’s enough to practice something and keep practising it to be fresh in how you know it.
I love when I make a practise of something andsomeone points out that even my practise needs adjusting and tweaking. It’s easy to get stuck in a rut of routine that’s unreflective. So to be stopped and challenged and work out as well work through the tweaks of the practise only makes the practise better.
It’s a part of being a brother of Jesus that He will constantly encourage the tweaks – I pray for the heart to remain responsive to His prompts so that the practise can be pleasing to Him.
For His Name’s Sake
Shalom
