Men and brethren, what shall we do?
Do you understand what you’re reading? Here’s water, what’s stopping me getting baptised?
When the King heard the words, he rent his clothes and called for national reform.
When he recovered his sight and got baptised, filled with the Spirit he went about preaching the good news.
These are some summaries of events scattered around scripture of the reaction that folks had after an encounter with the Word of God. They are not unique. Scripture is littered with episodes where God’s presence and relational contact has lead to change. It lead to change because there was an active acknowledgement that something about the presence of God and contact with God leads to change.
Sometimes rituals and routines condition participants to presume encounters are about fuzzy feeling. Some corporate habits are so established and given to little review that it limits the expression of God and paralyses people in unhelpful cycles of tradition dependency.
Perhaps it’s good from time to time to ask God in the light of who He is to see what tangible change is needed. That change to be further aligned with His will and His way.
For His Name’s Sake
Shalom
