The Comfort Of A Word Of Confirmation

It must have been something for Mary to have had the amazing and largely unconventional visit from Gabriel. The next recorded incident in the narrative makes me chuckle.

Can you imagine it. Lizzie just hears her cousin go “Hello Elizabeth!” and literally something drops in her Spirit and she’s up and at the races talking to Mary about the marvellous news. And in all the excitement, she ends with this chestnut.

Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her! (Luke 1:45)

There is something assuring getting a word of confirmation. A word that affirms you that the steps of faith you have taken are in line with what God wants you to do.

It’s assuring because sometimes you’re not clear. Sometimes the way may not be certain and when something extraordinary and so irregular is going to take place, it’s good to get those words of confirmation. That word that says this is a marvellous thing you’re doing. You’re on the right road. Continue going with God.

It pays then to hear the word and rejoice in the confirmation available. It will certainly come in handy for the journey.

For His Name’s Sake

Shalom
